Access check

What is dependable and what changes with the day

General Store

The official store site currently lists 10 AM–6 PM daily at 10021 Lower River Road. Treat that as the fixed first stop, but confirm same-day changes before the drive.

Music and events

Performances and community gatherings are occasional, not a standing attraction. Use the official town calendar or current social account rather than an old event roundup.

Riverbank

There is no developed riverwalk. View the Ohio from the town center and use only clearly public access; high water, mud, and commercial traffic can change the shoreline quickly.

Fishing

A Kentucky license and current Ohio River regulations apply. Verify a legal bank-access point through Kentucky Fish & Wildlife rather than assuming every open-looking patch is public.

Rabbit Hash General Store Kentucky

The Rabbit Hash General Store

10021 Lower River Rd · The Heart of Town

Built around 1831 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the General Store is the soul of Rabbit Hash. It burned to a shell in February 2016 and was painstakingly rebuilt using salvaged period-correct lumber from other historic structures across the region — reopening April 1, 2017, with its historic designation intact.

Today it sells local gifts, Kentucky goods, antiques, cold drinks, and stories. The official site currently lists daily hours of 10 AM to 6 PM; check again before making the drive.

Walk the Ohio River Bank

Free · Best at golden hour

The Ohio River runs directly past town. A gravel bar may appear at low water, and commercial traffic is visible from the Kentucky bank. Watch from shore and keep dogs away from the current and changing bank conditions.

Spring flooding can change river access — check conditions if you're planning your whole visit around the bank.

The architecture reflects a 19th-century river trading community, while surviving flood marks document the Ohio River's repeated effect on the district.
